What is and how do you use the visual basics editor in powerpoint

Joshua,

Office applications support a programming language called Visual Basic for
Application (VBA). This can be leveraged to enhance the user experience by
automating common repitative tasks or developing customized tools to work
within the parent programs environment.

The Visual Basic Editor w.r.t Office applications is the development
evironment for VBA. The 'code' gets written in this environment. VBE is
installed automatically along with the application unless you choose not to.
You can launch the Visual Basic Editor (VBE) by pressing Alt+F11 while in
PowerPoint or selecting Tools | Macro | Visual Basic Editor.

How and whats is the visual basics editor in powerpoint?

What Shyam said, and you might want to check out the Programming
PowerPoint section of the PPT FAQ for more information:

http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/#PROGRAMMING_POWERPOINT

Additionally, you might want to view some of the examples of what VBA can
do for you. Several people on this list have sites with examples, many of
them are referenced in the Programming PowerPoint section of the FAQ.

Generally, VBA is used in two ways: to increase productivity when
creating PowerPoint presentations; and to do "fancy" interactive things
that can't be done with the traditional features of PowerPoint. My site
focuses on the latter, but the PPT FAQ will provide you with plenty of
information about both.

I've also used simple VB scripts to control Flash pieces I've inserted into
PowerPoint. That process is still quirky and uneven, but that's one example
of why you'd use Visual Basic.
