What is the Difference Between My Tasks and My Timesheets?

A

Andy S

I am using Project Server 2007, and want to be sure I understand the
difference between My Tasks and My Timesheets. Is My Timesheets for
entering Actual Hours only, and My Tasks for any other changes to the
tasks (durations, custom fields, etc.)? Also, I just published my
first schedule and the entire thing appears under My Tasks even though
I am not a resource. Is this correct?

Thanks!

There are actually two issues in your message:

1. The My Tasks page is used by team members to enter progress against
project tasks to which they are assigned. The My Timesheet page is used by
anyone in the organization to enter all types of time, including project
work, non-project work, and even non-work such as vacation or sick leave.
You should only use the My Timesheet functionality if your organization
needs to track all types of time.

2. Because you are seeing all project tasks on your My Timesheet page, this
indicates your Project Server administrator has not set up Project Server
2007 correctly. Refer to the following FAQ to solve this problem:

Hope this helps.
