what is the exact meaning of PowerPoint?

I want to know the exact meaning of powerpoint, and also why they choose the
powerpoint as the program name?

It seems to me that if you want to get something across to an audience you
will have to have good arguments to convince them. So put some power in the
points you make. Thus PowerPoint.
I'm sure some of the MVPS will have to say something about this.

This program was originally not developed by Microsoft itself, but by a
company called Forethought. They originally called it "Presenter", but a
Trademark problem arose. Thus the name was changed to "PowerPoint". See

Actually, the name PowerPoint came from one of the people on the
Presenter team. He was sitting on an airplane waiting to take off and
in big letters on the runway was painted the message for the pilots
"Power Point".

So he renamed the product after that runway message.

That's at least what our good friend Ric from the Microsoft Dev Team
told us one time.
