What type of barcode is produced in word in mail merge?

W

who cares

There are different barcodes for the USPS.
I assume the barcode is POSTNET format...how do I know for sure?
Specifically, I'm speaking of using the mail merge option and when entering
fields a barcode option is available. I see no metion of what type of
barcode is being produced
Please help.

It is POSTNET, and it is not USPS-compliant, so it's more or less useless.

Yes, the barcode produced by Word is POSTNET.

The USPS no longer accepts that format for bulk mail discounts -- see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897290. You might as well not use the
barcode feature at all.
