when sending powerpoint as a hyperlink, presentation opens in slide show mode

We have a user that is trying to send a hyperlinke to a
Powerpoint presentation (.ppt) to a group of users so they
can open it and make some changes to it. When the users
click on the hyperlink, the presentation opens in Slide
show mode, not edit mode (like when you double-click
a .ppt file)

I logged this with the powerpoint newsgroup and they
suggested that I log the issue with you guys.

Any ideas?
