When would I use Access instead of Excel?

I need to add a spreadsheet, as a summary to a PowerPoint Presentation.
This will then be used to prioritize the items, add capital expenses and
then track their progress as projects.
Which would work better, Access or Excel?

Hi,

Can`t you add the excell spreadsheet into powerpoint? I don`t know
powerpoint very well, actually never used it, but I have seen spreadsheets
imported into a powerpoint presentation. So I would beleive using excel
then importing it into powerpoint would do what you want.
