Where did Ofs '03 go?

I had Ofs '03, but my college student dau uses my pc for school work back-up
and needed Ofs '07. So we loaded her school issued CD of Ofs '07 onto my
laptop. Because of pc upgrades she had already used that CD 3 times and
didn't know that was all the uses it was good for.

A pop-up informed us that I would be allowed approximately 20 uses in order
to decide whether I wanted to make an upgrade purchase.

Soon thereafter my husband experienced a medical emergency. I took my pc to
access his medical records for the doctors & staff. During his hospital stay
the allowed '07 uses expired!

I don't think I was ever given an option to purchase, only that access was
now denied. I could open existing docs created in Ofs '03, but I could not
edit them, and I could no longer create new docs!

After my husband's return home I couldn't find a way to make the purchase of
Ofs '07, via the CD where we'd loaded it.

Hoping to just return to Ofs '03 for the time being, I uninstalled '07
thinking '03 would still be there and operational. Apparently, however, '07
disabled '03, and now I am without either!

Next I tried "System Restore" attempting to "go back" to before I'd loaded
MS Office '07, but this didn't solve my problem!

I am left wondering if I've done damage to the registry, but if that were
the case I thought that nothing at all would work, and even though MS Office
isn't working, in any version, MS Works is still available, and I can still
surf the net, use Yahoo e-mail, Facebook, Favorites, etc. I can also still
save digital pictures to "My Pictures" and view them in thumbnail or
filmstrip. But, when I attempt to open them I get a pop-up that reads,
"Windows, preparing to install". This pop-up flashes quickly then disappears.
It is followed by the picture actually opening to a larger size, but with a
message across it that reads, "Picture Manager: You have not entered a valid
product key..." BUT AT NO TIME have I been given the opportunity to enter any
product key. (Note, I can view all the pictures in Picasa 3.)

At this stage, even though I would much prefer to return to my previously
loaded MS Ofs '03, I am willing to purchase '07. Anything to get Ofs/Word
back. But am reluctant to purchase '07 without knowing it will solve my
current problem.

Can someone please advise me?

The emergency is now past, but I'm still unable to use Ofs. In an effort to
return to my '03 version I uninstalled '07 only to discover that apparently
'07 disabled '03! This leaves me frustrated with '07 and perfectly willing to
return to '03, but it won't reload!

I can still access folders created in '03, but files won't open, and I get a
pop-up that says "Windows

When the Office '07 version was installed apparently the option to replace
the Office '03 programs was chosen. The only way to get Office '03 back is
to uninstall the '07 version from Control Panel and then find the
installation disks for '03 and reinstall with that program's license key
(which should be on the package.) Once installed, update to the latest
service pack.
