Where did reports go?

It looks as if several of the standard reports have been overwritten. Many of
the reports pull up as the project summary report even though I am opening a
different report like the to do list report. This was not occuring as
recently as last week on this same project file. Any ideas? Reinstall project?

Hello Mike,

If you go to Tools > Organizer, can you copy the missing report(s)
from the Global.mpt file back in to your project? Is this happening
on all projects or just one?

What version (including service pack) of Project are you using?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

The To do report is represented in Reports. However when I load the report it
does not ask me to select a resource as it should. It instead displays what
looks like the Project Summary report.

When I attempt to copy the report from Global.mpt to the project, I click
yes to overwrite the existing report. That is followed by an error saying
"The Project Summary and Base Calendar reports cannt be copied, renamed, or
deleted"

This appears to only affect this one project. The to do list report is fine
in another project.

I am using Project 2007 SP2

Hi Mike,

As it appears to affect only one project, my guess is that the
reports in that project have somehow become damaged or corrupt. You
may be able to repair the damage by deleting the incorrect To Do
report using the organizer and then copying the report back from
Global.

Thank you for the help Julie.

Project will not allow me to delete or overwrite the base reports in the
project. I have gone through the other reports as well and the affected
reports are ones where I should be prompted to select a resource name for the
report. All of the reports under Assignments load as the Project Summay
report.

You're welcome Mike.

The To Do List report calls to the Using Resource filter. Does the
filter by itself work?

Display a task view and run the filter -- does it work?

Just to confirm - this is only on a specific project? Other projects opened
on the same machine do not have the same problem?

If it is a specific project then you may want to try saving off to another
file format (XML) for example and then reopening from that saved file.

If it applies to all projects opened with that machine, then try resetting
the global.mpt file.

To do this, close project. Search for "global.mpt". Rename it something else
(so you can retrieve it later if necessary). Then reopen Project. This should
automatically regenerate a new global.mpt file for you. If that displays the
same issue I suppose I'd try a reboot, then maybe a reinstall.

It only occurs on a single project. Other projects on my laptop are fine.

I saved the project as an XML then opened the XML file and saved as a MPP
file. The to-do report is now operating as it should.

Thank you for your help. Thanks to Julie as well!

The Using Resource filter does work. I tested it when the report was not
working and the filter was working then as well.

It looks like Jack has given you the perfect answer. Glad to see
all is working well again.
