Re: where do I find the outline mode in PP 2003

It should be displayed on the left of your powerpoint slides.

if it's not, then...

view menu > normal (restore panes)

TAJ, Thanks for your response, I should have been more specific. There is a
function in PP 03 that will outline letters, words or whatever, on a slide.
When you view the slide you see the letters slowly forming across the screen
in an outline style.

JoanInGa,
When you view the slide you see the letters slowly forming across the
screen

I've never seen this effect in powerpoint, unless you either do some jiggery
pokery with a "shadow" and "text shadow", to get a pseudo outline, or by
using "wordart" to get an 'outline'. Or am I misunderstanding your question
perhaps...?

If you are talking about animations, how do you want the animations to be
like? If you meant the outline will form through a wipe, then use wordart
(select the first style, type some text then press OK. Then, right click on
the wordart and click format wordart. Set the fill color to "No Fill". This
would show only the outline of the text.

Then, right click on the wordart and click custom animation. Click Add
effect > entrance > Wipe.
Change the direction to from left.

Your a genious! Now I remember where I saw that particular animation . . .
in your 'The Power to Animate' presentation on the web. Your instructions
worked just fine. While I have your attention, would you share with me how
you did the 'Drive' animation in that pres where the word 'drive' looks to be
following a path into the distance until if narrows down to nothing. Thanks
a bunch! I have sooooo much to learn but am love'n it!

You will need to use motion path, where you will drag the end of the path to
the end of the road (the pointed edge), then, add a grow/shrink emphasis (set
the size to 0%) where the Start: is "With Previous".

To see what i have actually done to other slides, simply open powerpoint,
then click File > Open. Then select my file and click Open. ;)
