Where to find symbols for algebra problems?

After 30 years, I am now taking algebra again. I would like to type some of
my notes concerning "laws" and give examples of the solutions. There are not
sufficient symbols in Word list that allow me to copy examples from my book.
Can anyone help me?
(Please bear in mind that I am only basically computer-literate.)

Excel maybe the product you want to use.

Word and Excel have an Equation Editor option to record the algebra.
Access is fundamentally arithmetic in calculations.
