Which version of Project is correct for us?

We are a project based company where I am attempting to schedule multiple
resources across multiple projects. I have used Project 2000 as a standalone
software in order to schedule these projects but would like to move to a
version that will allow users to edit their tasks within the projects. What
software versions are recommended to accomplish this?

Two choices:- you could use a central resource pool, and connect all of the
project files to that. It does get cumbersome with updates and there can be
issues with the resouce pool becoming corrupted. However with some patience
it can be made to work. The alternative is to use project server where the
environment can be better controlled and is more robust. I have used both
methods and project server is well worth the investment

Hi,

AFAIK no version of Project allows simultaneous updates by more than one
user.
In that area Server has no added value.
