While emailing, how do I stop Outlook from frequent diconnects?

While emailing, Outlook disconnects frequently. I have a high-speed
broadband connection that is always on. I get a pop-up message from Outlook
that there has been a 'time out' and Outlook is now working offline. I go to
File-Connect to MSN to reconnect, but it usually only stays connected long
enough to download/read one email.
