Why are my tasks are being re-arranged in Microsoft project?

Here is my aspect of 'Project 2003' that I’m having trouble with. If I
change the grouping, say to ‘Duration’and then back again to ‘No Group’, my
tasks are all out of order. The ID number on the extreme left shows that my
task order has changed. When the IT people at my place of work first loaded
PROJECT for me I had to
download an ‘upgrade’ from Microsoft due to a problem with ‘indenting’and
‘outdenting’ tasks. Perhaps this download is part of my problem I don’t know.

David,
What exactly do you consider as tasks in order? Normally this is
concurrent task ID numbers but maybe you mean something else. The most
common reason the task IDs are not concurrent is either a sort has been
applied (i.e. Project/Sort) or there are external links and the option
to show them is not checked.

Hi Rod,

Thank-you for that Revelation. It seems too simple to believe!

Hi John,

Thank-you for responding. As Rod Gill suggested, and as you intimated,
I needed to select 'Project'...sort ID.
