WHY CAN'T I TYPE?

When I am on the word page I go to type and it says in the bottom left
corner, this modification is not allowed because the selection is lock? Does
anyone know the problem.

Is this is a retail copy of Word/Office, have you activated it? If it is a
trial copy, it has probably expired.
