Verify that the sourse exsists and that you have access. Get this when I try
to update or remove. I can't remove Office 2003 or update it. Help

More than likely you opted to keep the Local Installation Source (LIS)
when you installed Office and then later deleted it.

Here's an article on how to obtain a utility to modify the LIS and how
to utilize it:

And the "original program" means? Did you install using a CD, did you
install from a "restore disk". Maybe a bootleg download from a pirate
web site? It's looking for the Installation source and you need to put
whatever you installed from back to the location that you installed from.

Beth, I download the LIS and enabled it, but still can do absolutely nothing
with my Office prduct. I can't delete, repair, or change anything due to the
messaage that comes up saying; The installation source for this product is
not available.

Bob, It is an orginal store bought program. I can't use the detect/repair
or the update. When I put my cd in. it tells me the same; installation
source not found. I have used the LIS Toll, but does nothing. These
messages come up when I try to update: The Office Update site is unable to
check for updates on this computer. This may be happening because of one of
the following reasons:

You do not have administrative privileges for this computer.
There is a network problem and the detection catalog used by the Office
Update site failed to download. Go back to the Downloads home page and try
running detection again.
Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files) from previously applied Office
updates are missing from the \Windows\Installer hidden directory on your
computer. MSP files are stored on your computer after update installation
completes because they need to be referenced for future update operations. If
the files are missing you will not be able to apply Office updates. You may
also be unable to uninstall Office products as a result of the same problem.
Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for assistance.
You installed Office updates in the past and then upgraded from Windows
Installer version 1.0 to Windows Installer version 1.1. For more information
see the KB article Windows Installer May Prompt for Install Source if
Unavailable.
I get no reply from Microsoft and am at the end here trying to fix it. Any
suggestions?

Bill
