Why do SBE 2003 applications keep hanging?

SBE 2003 applications are now consistently hanging when I am in file
management screens (open, save as, attach...). I've done the repair and
downloaded all applicable patches.

That is usually caused by searching for missing mapped drives. In "My
Computer" R-click on and Disconnect any "red Xed" drives and you should
be back up to speed.
