Why does an E with an accent appear when I try to insert a (?)

When I use my key board some times to type a ? or a / it inserts an E with an
accent on top of it. My keyboard is set to English CA......

I had the same problem. I would have to exit the application and restart it
to get back the '?'.

I got so fed up with this anomaly happening too often that I reverted back
to the US keyboard and haven't had a problem since.
