Why does File + close now exit from Word instead of just closing .

Recently when I used File+close to close a document, it closes the whole
program instead. Can anyone shed any light on this?

It always helps to know which version of Word is involved in a problem?

Have you tried starting Word in Safe Mode, to see if the problem persists
when all addins and macros are locked out?
