Why does Outlook freeze for seconds when clicking a link in an ema

Why does Outlook freeze for seconds when clicking a link in an email?
I never understood this. What on earth could it be doing? Sometimes it takes
a couple seconds, sometimes it seems like a minute or. Outlook just hangs
until the browser finally opens. I don't suppose there is a solution to this?
