why does service pack 2 fail to install?

I have downloaded the office service pack 2. However it will not install. Any
idea how to overcome the problem, I am using windows XP

1) This is an Office newsgroup. Why should we care about issues with
Windows?!

2) When you *DO* finally manage to find the correct group "will not
install" isn't helpful. No one can see your computer but you.

The Op clearly wrote he had downloaded the OFFICE SP2
