why does spacebar put a dot after word ?

Every time I am typing a document and then use my spacebar a dot appears
after the word. I use microsoft office 2003. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!

That's because you have the hidden markers turns on to view.

You can turn that off by either clicking Tools > Options > View and
turning off the SPACES checkbox (that dot represents a space) or
uncheck the ALL if you have that checked.

Faster, hit Ctrl + Shift + 8 to toggle those markers on/off.
