Why does word crash if I change the page layout?

It crashes when I try to change the margins, it crashed when I open a saved
document.
I bought the computer with word already installed on it from Best Buy.

Possibly a partially corrupt or incompatible printer driver. Have you got an
up to date printer driver installed and set as the Windows Default?
