Why doesn't my wav file play in Power Point?

I have a 30,000 KB WAVE audio file that I am trying to play over several
slides in a Power Point presentation. It is a valid file that will play if I
click on it in the folder it is in, but I cannot get it to play in Power
Point. My default are to link to any sound file that is over 50 KB. I've
tried to get it to play both on loading the slide as well as on click.
Neither one works. PLEASE HELP. I need this for tomorrow.

Thank you.

Through trial and error, I did manage to discover one of the techniques
mentioned in the article...

<<Go to the slide where you want the sound to begin playing
Choose Insert, Movies and Sounds, then click Sound From Clip Organizer (or
Sound From File) to insert the sound.>>

However, what I had been trying and failing with was another technique in
the same article...

<<Go to the first slide (or the slide where you want the sound to start
playing)
From the Slide Show menu, select "Slide Transition"
In the "Sound" field select the sound you want to use (scroll to the bottom
of the list box and click "Other Sound ..." to choose a WAV file other than
the ones in the list)>>

Now, I see there are many more steps required after this (which my
intuitiveness did not point me to), and I will experiment with them next
time. Tonight, I am just thrilled that I got my presentation to work!

Thank you for the link and information.
