Why no response

I would appreciate it if someone would tell me why I have not gotten any
reponse to my question concerning mail merge for labels. (Publisher was
putting each line of the address onto a new label.) I am new at all this, so
if I am not doing it right, please tell me. Perhaps my question was too
long. If no one knows the answer to my question, please just tell me, so I
can go to plan B. Thank you.--

I have no idea what format the original file is in. It comes from an old
program called Inscribe that my print shop uses to address wedding
invitations in calligraphy with a robotic arm. The only thing available on
that computer to open the address file was Wordpad. I copied it on a
floppy, put it on another computer and pasted it in Word. Here is a sample
record after I changed the record and field delimiters to something Word
recognizes. As you can see, it is stacked:
*Amy Robinson Photography
Amy Robinson
$5327 Live Oak Lane
Number 123
Garland, Texas 75068

I can create labels in Word, using this file, and just print it on plain
paper for customers to proof, but I really need it to be in Publisher,
because of the flexibility of choosing which names I want to print.
Customers don't send in all the names at once.
If I change the file to a .txt file, Publisher will recognize it as a table,
but I can't get it to put each record on the same label. I couldn't unstack
it in Excel, either.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appeciated!

There is no *simple* way to do what you have to do. It's going to take work.
Apparently you have a business and as your other post (please keep it
limited to one) you mentioned getting 400 to 600 addresses at a time. Since
you've opted to do this for a living, you're going to have to do a bit more
work if you want to use Publisher. It seems as if you have three options.
You could charge more for the additional work. You could use Word and toss
the address labels you don't want. You can eat the cost of the extra labor.
Depending on how many addresses you are eliminating, the second option is
going to be the easiest.

(If it was me and I wanted to use Publisher, I'd do the extra work but make
sure to add a small fee in if the database was not in Excel.)

Perhaps you should consider PagePlus from Serif. It's a lot like
Publisher but its mail merge creates a DB that you can pick and choose
what records to merge.
