Why won't the task bar colors change in the Gantt chart in 2007?

I'm using Project 2007 with a master project file that I converted from 2003.
When I change the task bar color in the master Gantt chart, some of the
subproject tasks will change and some won't. I have tried to unlink and
reinsert the problem subprojects with no luck, although sometimes the program
will "hiccup" and suddenly the changes will take effect. Once saved, the
change will stay. Just wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem.
