Why won't Word open downloaded documents

On My Computer when I down load a file to be opened in MS Word I get an error
saying invalid file path. How can I fix this.

How are you opening the files? If you are opening the files outside
the application (other than using File/Open) then it sounds like the
file association needs to be recreated.

Go to Start/Run and run the following:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.
