Will installing a new office product overwrite my older software?

I have an older laptop with Office 97 Professional on it.
Last year I purchased Office xp for students and teachers
2002 for my PC. I would like to load the XP program onto
my laptop to use the newer versions of word, excell,
outlook and powerpoint. However I don't want to loose
Access that is part of the 97 package. If I install the
newer program will it overwrite my previous one?

To avoid overwriting just opt for custom install and tell Office XP to put
itself in a directory different from that holding Office 97.

Just remember, all file associations will be moved from O97 to OXP so you
may have to manualy select the one you want to use with Access 97.

As Office XP STE does not include Access, only those programs included in
the XP STE will be overwritten.
