Will not remember Logon password

I created a pop3 account in Outlook XP and once I have
entered the User Name and Password and check the Remember
password check box everything works. Once Outlook is
closed and re-opened the logon password is not remembered
and must to be re-entered every time. I have not found
any information on technet. I have also tried a repair
and a reinstall, but to no avail. Any Ideas...
