Window doesn't close after " send/receive"

I have W98se. Just recently, when I send/receive the
window should automatically close as it should. For years
it has worked fine. Yesterday I re-downloaded Outlook
Express. After doing so the window closed as it should.
Today it stopped closing again. I would apprecite if
someone could help me with problem.
