Windows Installer

Each time ACCESS 2003 SP 2 Spanish version is initiated under Windows XP Pro
SP 2 English version, the Windows Installer program is automatically
initiated. This program begins to install ACCESS 2003 COMPONENTS.

Any suggestions to avoid this?

Something isn't installed right. Which components? If it is DAO, it might be
the ATI video card driver's DAO component (I believe it is used for the
Media Library component of the Multimedia Center). If so, I usually just go
to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the DAO item. You need to install it to
begin with because it installs more than just the DAO, then uninstall the
DAO component.

If it is Access itself, then you may need to uninstall and reinstall Office.
Usually though, when the installer starts, if you give it the disk it is
looking for, it will finish what it is trying to do and won't bother you
again.

Wayne:

I uninstalled and reinstalled Office but the problem was not solved.
I also made available the OFFICE CD when the installer starts, but the
problem remained.

Regarding DAO actions, I did not finf the DAO component after running Add -
Remove programs. Could you please provide me additional details to
uninstalled and reinstalled this component?

The DAO item is only applicable if you have an ATI video card and have
installed ATI's Multimedia Center software.

You may want to try the microsoft.public.office.setup newsgroup. They may be
better equipped to help with this.

Wayne:

Using ADD/REMOVE Programs, I found ATI Control Panel so I requested to
CHANGE / REMOVE and then REPAIR. The REPAIR option was done without any
problem but the WINDOWS INTALLER problem was not solved.

I also found ATI Display Driver so I requested to CHANGE / REMOVE and then
ask to confirm to REMOVE so I decided to cancel the process.

Regarding your last note, I will try with the setup newsgroup.

Ok, as stated, the problem is with the DAO component of the Multimedia
Center, not the driver or control panel. If you have the Multimedia Center
installed, there should be an entry in Add/Remove programs that simply calls
itself "DAO".

Thanks for your interest in helping me. I did not find any entry in
Add/Remove programs that simply calls DAO.
