Winword caused error in user.exe

I am having a problem getting Word to work. I have
unistalled and reinstalled and now tried installing
Microsift office 2000. Everything but Word works. I first
get a message saying there is not enough memory to run the
program and then I get "Winword caused error in user.exe.

Can someone help?
