WMV file froze my presentation when it was projected, why?

I imported a small WMV file into my powerpoint 2003 presentation, which ran
fine on the laptop and monitor, however, when my presentation was projected
onto a 20 foot screen, the presentation froze up, my own screen went blank,
and then it closed the presentation after I hit escape. Is there a setting I
might have wrong?

Were it me my first course of action would be to see if there is an updated
video driver for your lappie.
