WMV files very slow and pixelated on some computers but not on oth

I have some wmv files in powerpoint and when i run them on one computer it
runs perfectly. I use pack and go to take it to another computer, (an exact
same Dell computer) which is set up ( as far as i can tell) excatly the same.
When i run it on this one when it gets to the wmv file it takes about 25
seconds to load and then pixelates very heavily in different spots when it
runs. I can then take it to another computer (again the same type of dell
computer) and it will run fine. What can i do? Thanks in advance.

Travis,

Make sure each computer has the same software installed

e.g. the same version of windows media player
direct x
and the latest version of the graphics card drivers for your os and card
(e.g. nvidia / ati)
When i run it on this one when it gets to the wmv file it takes about 25
seconds to load

Are these computers the same spec (e.g. processor/pentium / hard drive speed
etc)

Have you done something called a "degrag" lately?

Cheers

I think TAJ meant to say, "defrag." Also be aware that unless you
specifically insert a Windows Media Player object and point it to the video,
PowerPoint use the MCI driver to play the movies. This driver is a lot less
efficient at playing WMV movies (depends upon codec used, stream rate
encoded at, etc.) than Windows Media Player. Depending upon the hardware(
mostly cpu and memory) and software on each computer, the MCI driver will
probably look different on various computers. I had some that were so bad
when Insert From File that I had to drop a WMP object on the slide and play
it that way.

In addition to the advice you've gotten from Mike and TAJ, make sure that
the display settings on both systems are the same.

It could be that one system's running at 1600x1200 while the other's running
at 800x600 or something. If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me if
things look pixelated on one and not the other.
