Word 2000 Formatting problems

H

History Repeats

I am having a formatting problem with Word on my desktop. When I type - or
...., Word automatically changes it to an up and down line, like | (but
shorter and thicker). Can someone please tell me why it is doing this, as I
would love to scream at it right now.

I have checked the auto correct area and don't see this listed, also turned
off the autoformat feature, etc. BTW, Word 2000 on my laptop does not do
this.

Hi

when you enter the dashes and press enter, the line converts to a solid
line across the page as part of the autoborder feature.
To turn this off..select the lightening sign you see to the left of where
the - 's are typed and turn off auto border
You can use the Tools menu ... autocorrect ... "Autoformat as you type" tab
and uncheck the box for "hyphens with dashes"
By default this is turned on.

This should solve your issue.

Hi,
You would also need to uncheck the
"Border lines" check box under the "apply as you type" under the
"autoformat as you type" tab on autocorrect options.

I don't believe that History Repeats' description sounds like any of the
borders that would be created this way. Please reread the OP.
