Word 2000 Normal.dot template

Annie

I want to change the default template when I open word to
show a blank page. I must have saved a letter i was
doing as the normal.dot template. Now everytime I start
word this letter comes up and all I want is a blank page.
Can anyone tell me how to change this?

I can't delete the normal template because it always
shows as open in word.

Thank you.

How about if, when you open it and it displays the unwanted letter, you just DELETE all parts of the letter so that it's now a blank document ... then save it again as your Normal.dot template. Be sure when you're saving it that you change from a .doc to a .dot in the Save As Type box.

Sorry Nancy,

This is not a good idea. Normal.dot holds a lot more than text or the
absence of text. Annie should follow the link that Dayo gave her and it will
take her step-by-step though what needs to be done.
