Word 2000, search by font fails

J

JSPnMe

I have a word 2000 document where all the ":)" characters have been
autocorrected to smiley emoticons. I want to change them to something else,
but either the find/replace dialog isn't working correctly, or I'm not using
it right.

I made a simple document containing only the word SMILE. I can search for
"I" and replace it with the smiley ("J" in the wingdings font) and that works
fine. But when I search for "J" in the wingdings font, it never catches the
smiley.

What am I doing wrong, or am I just stuck?

Thanks!

PS. Sorry if this belongs in general questions instead - it seems more like
an error to me.
