Word 2002 Index

When I update index in my document there are blank lines followed by page numbers. So the line looks something like this:
..............................................6
I don't know why I am getting this in my index. There are no index entries on the page.

Hi, johnjrv. I'm guessing it's a problem with the way you marked the index entries. If you click on the ¶ (Show/Hide) button, and then go to where an index entry is marked, the index mark field should look something like { XE "Index Entry Text" }. What do your index mark fields look like?

Your XE fields will not say "Index Entry Text"... that was just an
example. What do your XE fields look like? For example, do they look
like { XE "" } ?
