Limit the Index to a Section Break range

I want to create an index that doesn't include index entries for words that are in the bibliography. I can't find a way to do this with section breaks, page breaks etc. Does someone know of an easy way to limit the page range that the index is active over? I don't want to use the page range option (e.g. 1-8) when the true pages are 1,2,8 using the bookmark option.
