Word 2002 - Install all fonts

I think the person who installed Office XP on my computer did a typical
install. I don't seem to have all the fonts I should. How do I check on
this and make sure I have them all? I have tried to do a custom install and
find a section on fonts but I don't see any such section.

I have done some documents and PowerPoints using Office XP at one computer,
but when I bring these to a second computer they do not seem to open the
same. I have tracked this down to a difference in the fonts. The only
larger programs on both computers is Office XP. I am hoping that if I have
the same fonts on both computers that the files will open exactly the same.

Would that be the problem in my case?

I am creating a document in Word or a PP slide show and when I bring the
file to my work computer, the text is different, and fits on the document or
slide show differently, just in looking at it on the monitor. I have not
even tried to print these files.

I use a certain font at home and when I open the file at work and click on
the text, Word tells me it is the same font, but the font is not installed
on that computer. I had thought that Word or PP was substituting another
font and that was why the fit was not exactly the same. Very close, but not
exact.

If you still think that it is the different printer or printer driver, I
would pursue that further.

Terry, I think you must have been meaning to answer a different question.
Even if you meant to refer Stephen to
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NoFonts.htm, I don't believe that is
the issue in this case. Stephen, in Office XP, look under Office Shared
Features to find fonts.

Please see my previous reply (to Terrry). It is entirely possible that you
don't have all the fonts installed. If it turns out that the font required
is one that is not available at work, copy the font file from your home
computer and install it at work (being sure to copy all variants--bold,
italic, and bold italic--if applicable).

I see what you mean now. As Suzanne says, you should be able to copy the
required font from your computer to the other computer. You may also be able
to work around this by checking the option to Embed TrueType Fonts (under
Save Options) so that the font set is saved with the documents. However,
this obviously makes the documents larger and copying the fonts may be the
better option if you do this regularly. But note that the document I pointed
to you may still be relevant if you are still getting minor differences in
layout after you have moved the fonts.

Thank you, both Terry and Suzanne. I think I am going in the right
direction now.
