Word 2003 crashes when minimized with no open document

When Word 2003 is minimized while there is no document opened, it shows up as an open program on my main screen toolbar. However, when I click on it to restore it, it shuts down.

The next time it opens, it reports that the normal template was not saved and asks if I want to restore it - indicating a crash

Anyone have the same experience? Any ideas?

I suspect you've encountered a bug in the Handwriting Recognition
services. Try the following:

- Open your Control Panel
- Open Regional and Language Settings
- Select the Language tab
- Click Details
- Remove Handwriting Recognition
