Word 2003 margin issues

A

Amy C.

When I open Word 2003, the margins are set to 6 x 8. I have gone in and
tried to correct it with the page setup and even tried to set the default,
but it still goes back to the 6 x 8 settings.
I have restarted my computer thinking it might reset but nothing helps.
I know it has to be something easy and obvious otherwise I would have it
figured out already! haha
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to wrap up a project
for work and this is throwing me off and messing up things.

I have done a search and went into the Office files and have been unable to
find the normal.dot template

The default location is C:\Documents and Settings\{Your
username}\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates and you may have to enable
hidden and system files in your Folder view to see it.

I have the hidden files showing, and I just looked in that file and there is
nothing at all in that folder.

No, I am for sure logged in under my id for work.
I guess I better just make the dreaded phone call to the help desk.
I am still open to suggestions though.
Thanks for all the help so far, I appreciate it a lot.

If you are on a WORK machine you should have gone to the helpdesk in the
first place....

Yes, if this is a managed PC, you should call them first, as they are
ultimately responsible for the PC.

Yes, I know that but generally it is faster if I just solve it myself as I
have in the past.
I did not feel this was a major issue so I really was trying to avoid the
enormous wait it will be for the help desk when I really need it now.
Again, thanks for the info though.

Since you didn't find "normal.dot" , I suspect "they" may have changed
some of the settings to store it else where or may have set a company
wide default or use roaming profiles or ..... and then "we" would
really be swimming upstream. So you're welcome, but in this instance
they need to be in the loop.
