Word 2003 SP2-images do not show or disappear in any view

Is this a bug? Word 2003 SP2 I can't seem to find a fix for this. Any ideas?
They will off and on show in Print Preview but not in edit mode.

Is tools > options > print > drawing objects checked?

Go to Tools - Options - View and deselect "Picture placeholders."

thanks, we found the combination of Checking Drawing objects and unchecking
the placeholder thing worked....
