Yes, there is a limit. Depending on how you buy it, the license terms allow
you to load one copy on only one computer, or on one desktop and one laptop
as long as they aren't used simultaneously. There's no way you can legally
run a 5-computer office on one copy.
If you're only interested in Word out of all the Office applications, look
into buying Works Suite. That includes the same Word version that's in
Office, plus some other stuff you may or may not use, and it's often cheaper
than buying Word by itself.
Another option is to look at a volume license such as Open License Value,
which has a 5-seat minimum but gives you some extras, such as spreading the
cost over time.
