Word 2007 crashes

I use Word 2007. There is no problem opening Word and I can acess all files
etc. When I write a new document and try to save it, word crashes. When I
exit Word (after displaying a saved document) Word also crashes.

Sometimes I get the message that the crash is due to an MS Office
application, and I am recommended to download uodates. However, all updates
are already installed. All other MS Office programs are error free.

I can edit and save documents when I start Word in safe mode. Removing MS
Office and reinstalling did not solve the problem.

The usual causes are:

1. Misbehaving add-in.

2. Corrupted Normal.dotm.

3. Corrupted registry entry (usually the Data key).

The fact that it works okay in Safe mode strongly suggests that it is one of
these three issues. In my experience, the most likely culprit in Word 2007
is a problem with Normal.dotm (sometimes inherited from Normal.dot... so
it's sometimes not enough to rename Normal.dotm; if Normal.dot is still
present after an upgrade [or if you're using both Word 2007 and an earlier
version], then you might need to rename both Normal.dot and Normal.dotm)..

This article provides more detailed information on how to implement possible
solutions:
