Word 2007 slow response

Ruben

Hi all,

I installed Word 2007 a few days ago and walked into a problem with it.
I noticed that everytime I switch between running applications and then
back to Word 2007, it takes about 30 - 60 seconds before I can do
anything in Word. I can see the document and the whole Word interface,
but during that time I see the hourglass and the interface won't
respond to clicks.
I tried out different settings already in the Word options, but nothing
changed this behaviour so far. It cannot be lack of memory (1.5 Gb) or
a slow processor or anything like that. It's a development machine with
enough resources. Has anyone else experienced this? And what can I do
about it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Ruben.

Fantastic post Ruben. Here is the key to disable:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin]
"LoadBehavior"=dword:00000000

Change from 3 to 0 and you are set. Make sure to do all the apps you
use. Instead of Adobe PDF, I am just using the Microsoft to PDF tools.

I already found out what caused it: somehow the Adobe PDFMaker COM
add-in caused it.
