Word 2007 trial version on Vista big problems

I am having the same issues as described in the post on 1/17 "Word 2007
buggy and crashes". I have followed links suggested for fixes, but, for
instance, the one about fixing a corrupt registry only give instructions for
up to Word 2002. One support article refers to "Tools" but there is no
"tools" on my header. Also, in Word Options, every choice is greyed out
except "popular" Here are the "details" I get when Word crashes:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: WINWORD.EXE
Application Version: 12.0.6211.1000
Application Timestamp: 46d4a7df
Fault Module Name: mso.dll
Fault Module Version: 12.0.6213.1000

Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
LCID: 1033

If all the options are greyed out, are you sure the trial period hasn't
expired?

Thank you for responding. I just downloaded it a couple of days ago.
Whenever I close it I get "Windows has stopped working....ect" and the "more
information" I included in my post.

I have visited the link you sent and tried everything except editing the
registry as it gives no instructions for Word 2007. So I have uninstalled
the Trial Pro version and re-installed my full Student Teacher version, which
is very buggy on Vista, but at least it works most of the time - my work
depends on Word and I couldn't continue to do without it.
Thanks for your help, though.

The fact that even S&T is 'buggy' suggests that there is something
fundamental wrong with your system. The most likely causes of Word 2007
problems are printer driver, normal.dotx and third party add-ins. If you
start Word in Safe Mode, is it stable then? From Start, Run type in

winword /a

and press enter. Now is safe Mode, test Word for a wile to see if it is
stable now.

When you get the "sorry" message, there's usually a Details... button to
click. The content of the Details window can be copied and pasted.

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks. I have used that feature in the past but I don't see the Details
option when Word 2007 crashes. I figured this was the case for the other
user, but that he/she knew of an error log file to access.

You should in that case be able to find the "event" in the Event Viewer
(Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer).
