word as email editor turns off

I create a message using word 2003, send and then when I go back in to view the email, a message comes up that word 2003 is not available or not loaded. Then the email comes up without 2003 and therefore looks different. Emails that I receive, I double click on to view and the same message comes up. I then go into tools, options, mail format and the box for using word 2003 as my email editor is unchecked.

This does not happen every time, so I'm confused. This did not happen the first 3 months of installing outlook and word 2003.
