word changes my screen resolution

Can anybody help? Currently, my screen resolution is set to 1280 x 1024.
Everytime I start word, screen goes blank, and then comes back in lowest
resolution
(800 x 600). I can't understand why only word is doing it. I have Office XP
and other components (power point, excel, etc.) do not do this.
