word document recover

P

Pat Herbert

I was working on a document I had typed about four pages. A question poped up when I was closing the file and it say Word as made a normal copy of this file. Do you want to replace it. I checked yes. Now the file says there is 24k of data, but the pages are blank. i ran a search on the one of the words in the document and the document came up in the search, however the pages are blank. Is there any hope for me getting the information back?

Hi Pat,

You should be able to at least get the unformatted text, if you specify
"Recover text from any file (*.*)" in "Files of type:" of the "File > Open"
dialog.

With (a rather large bit of) luck, the text including the formatting might
reappear if you create a new document and insert the damaged one with
"Insert > File".

If you have OpenOffice installed, you could try if it can open the file.

If everything fails, you can mail me the file to my private email address.
It may take a while till I get around to look at it, though... and I can't
promise anything.

Regards,
Klaus
