Word document won't expand

Processor: intel

When I open a Word document, rather than occupying a full page, there appears to be a "page within a page", in which the actual document contents are contained within a 1.5" square in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Although this square has scrolling controls and an active corner to expand the size of this square, all attempts to do so fail.

What steps might I take to correct this problem? All other Office applications appear to be working correctly.

A few people have reported this glitch, but I don't recall any sort of
solution (because they vanished before any conclusion was reached).
Thanks for your clear statement of the problem and what you've already
tried.

Um, wild guess that maybe Spaces is causing it? Word and Spaces in
Leopard definitely don't play well together, and that's the only known
window display bug I can think of. Can you turn Spaces off?

I guess you've tried hitting the minimize and size buttons, in case that
helps reset it? Also, can you clarify a bit--when you grab the active
corner and drag, what happens?

Is this all documents or just certain documents? What about new
documents? Documents emailed to you?
